Our founder Manly Magee Jr. started developing the central part of Mississippi before World War II, first by supplying building materials in the Central Mississippi corridor, then later by developing subdivisions and building homes for the returning GI's.  Along with building homes he also developed many commercial properties   bringing to Magee, MS the first modern style grocery store (1962).  The first big box of its time, a 13,000 sq. ft. dollar store (1975).  He was instrumental in transforming Magee from a "Main Street" community to the prosperous retail hub it is today.  During his tenure as president he brought to our area modern building materials, appliances, and construction techniques, that today are the standards that others try to emulate.
